Finding Feeds
Can't see the logic or usefulness of some of these finders. Feedster won't allow me access at the moment and that's one I want to peruse the most. Ahhhhggg! For the time being, I will not search for newsreaders but continue to subscribe to feeds as I find interesting sites.

RSS and Newsreaders

I'm thinking about these questions: What do you like about RSS and newsreaders? How do you think you might be able to use this technology in your work or personal life? How can libraries use RSS or take advantage of this new technology? In fact, I've had several days to think about them as I have been working through this lesson in stages, maybe it will help me to retain what I'm learning. Maybe not! I worked Sunday and had hoped to finish up week 4 but instead logged into bloglines and searched for blogs commenting on a specific topic related to Jacksonville from May 2008. I was successful at this task! I liked having an additional resource other than Google and other search engines to find what people are thinking and writing about. I've personalized my feeds, both blog types of personal and news items have been added to my account. I think it's going to be very useful professionally and personally. As for library use, it will be limitless. I had issues with finding my public bloglines URL. No instructions given re blog settings but I followed my nose and figured it out. The URL address to my public bloglines account :
Now on to adding my comments to the weeks discovery exercise, #8 of 23. I am therefore a mere few clicks away from completing "the most difficult one of the whole 23." (I think so anyway! Er, I don't mean to say this was difficult. No, not at all! The instructions were sketchy at best. Hint: be sure to update your Blog Settings under Account in the top right corner of Bloglines, after set up and sign in. Come on, don't be shy, just go for it!)

Castles and Technology

Ain't technology great? With just a few clicks while on Flickr today I was able to locate a second black and white castle photo. Perhaps I knew this at one time but it turns out the second castle from Segovia, Spain actually inspired the first and the imaginers at Disney recreated it with their ideal castle building technology! How's that for coming full circle?

Flickr Fun
It seems I am bee-hind! I got so excited and carried away by technology I had forgotten to post a comment or two and also failed to explore some of the many sites offered up to review. I have been so bogged down trying to learn about linkage features. It has helped to read about the experiences of others and glean hints and tips. Dumpr w/ Museumr is a new favorite toy and easy to use.The Castle

Ahh, success. Yesterday I decided to hop back to 2.0 learning after a 2 week hiatus, and my oh my was I behind. After much study I posted a link to a Flickr photo and decided it was not satisfactory and wanted to come back and put in the photo too. So after trying to remember and be prompted for an ages old yahoo id, I had to start a new account to become a Flickr user.
Then I had to search Flickr to find the chosen photo again. I need to work more on my searching but finally found the black and white jewel that should really make my blog sparkle with the pink and gray colors I already have going on. I have now edited yesterday's post and I'm anxious to see the results. Oh I almost forgot, I chose this subject as I have a live Cinderella at home and we live in a castle. Dreams really do come true!
